pure air (3) | Pure Electric
Pure Electric’s most successful platform, built from a contract manufacturer’s base scooter and made unmistakably its own.
problem
Pure Electric needed a well-engineered scooter to take on Xiaomi at entry level, and needed it fast. It had to be cheap to make, robust, and carry the features to win its category.
solution
The Pure Air (3) started as a contract manufacturer’s off-the-shelf platform. The brief was to bring it up to Pure Electric’s engineering and robustness standards, give it the brand’s visual language and add the features to beat the competition: revised tooling, design updates, IP65 protection and upgraded safety lighting.
Concept to market in 8 months, with a team of three. The off-the-shelf platform underneath is why: when speed to market and cost matter, as much proven hardware as possible is kept, and the engineering is spent where it shows.

The Pure Air (3) was delivered by a team of three multidisciplinary product design engineers. Product specifications and requirements were written for the contract manufacturer, covering robustness, safety and lighting, motor performance and IP rating, so development could move fast without losing quality.
Design and engineering verification followed: test plans, prototype build reviews, and sign-off that the scooter met Pure Electric’s performance, durability and safety standards before release.
The out-of-box experience for the Pure Air (3), Advance and Advance Flex was designed alongside: packaging that presents the scooter without lifting it during setup, with the quick-start instructions printed inside the box.
