mobile hub | Bace

A mobile parcel locker that takes planning permission out of the sale, and Bace’s most requested product since launch.

problem

Parcel lockers need planning permission and concrete foundations, so once installed they stay put. That makes site selection the most important decision an owner makes: location sets utilisation, and utilisation sets the return. The permanence puts buyers off.

solution

Make the locker mobile. A mobile unit needs neither planning permission nor permanent foundations, so owners can trial locations, take it to events and commit with far less at stake. Since launch, the Mobile Hub has become the product Bace’s customers ask for most, from private owners to local governments.

Two days after the idea, the requirements were written and RFIs were with suppliers. Eight months later, a working MVP. Fast design validation, hands-on prototyping and suppliers chosen early kept it moving.

The idea for the Mobile Hub came during a visit to Dortmund in April 2025. Within two days the product vision and requirements were written and RFIs were with suppliers. From there the full development followed: CAD, the bill of materials, and a DFMEA model for engineering verification.

Working closely with suppliers, hundreds of design iterations were validated quickly, ending in a combined verification and demonstration rig that was used to secure investor confidence. Supplier identification and selection, prototype preparation and early supply-chain setup were handled alongside, so the move into first production was smooth.

All development documentation and the BOM lived in Notion, for traceability. The patent application for the novel pallet-truck design was supported alongside the build.
